About the Club...

The Richmond Hill Pickleball Club was founded in the summer of 2021 by Mike Bowcott when he began offering free beginner lessons on two underused tennis courts lined for pickleball at Town Park. What started as a small group of new players quickly grew through word of mouth, reaching over 150 players by the end of the first summer and more than 750 the following year.
As interest in the sport continued to grow, the club partnered with the City of Richmond Hill to expand organized pickleball opportunities. Today, we operate Saturday morning programs and Sunday league play at Rouge Woods Community Centre, as well as lessons and organized play on Monday and Wednesday evenings during the school year at Beverley Acres Public School.
The club has also grown one of the largest pickleball communities in York Region, with more than 3,000 players connected through the Richmond Hill Pickleball Network. As we continue to grow, this website will become the club's primary home for memberships, registrations, leagues, lessons, events, communications, and player development.
Looking ahead, the club will introduce its own player rating system, based on an ELO-style ranking model, to help create balanced games and provide members with a fair, transparent way to track their progress. Existing DUPR and previous ratings will help seed players initially, while future club ratings will be earned through organized club play.
Our mission is simple: to grow pickleball, build community, and provide the best organized playing experience for every member.
