Courts

Where We Play

The Richmond Hill Pickleball Club does not have dedicated club courts. All of our programs are offered through permits issued by the City of Richmond Hill and the York Region District School Board.

Because court availability is limited, many of our programs fill quickly and operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Club members receive advance email notification when registration opens.

City-operated Saturday morning leagues at Rouge Woods require you to register with the City on using the RH Active system. Open an account, search for Pickleball

Dedicated Outdoor Pickleball Courts

Richmond Hill currently has only six dedicated outdoor pickleball courts, all of which are seasonal.

Bayview Hill Park

4 Dedicated Outdoor Courts

These four dedicated pickleball courts are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. The Richmond Hill Pickleball Club does not have permits for these courts.

Kings College Park

2 Dedicated Outdoor Courts

These two dedicated pickleball courts are open to the public and are not programmed or managed by the Richmond Hill Pickleball Club.

Richmond Green Pop-Up Courts

During the summer months, the City installs temporary pickleball courts at Richmond Green Park, located behind the arenas.

Features include:

  • Portable pickleball nets

  • Asphalt parking lot surface

  • Uneven pavement in some areas

  • Fenced playing area

  • Limited shade

  • Seasonal operation only

The Richmond Hill Pickleball Club operates many of its summer leagues and outdoor programs at this location.

Lined Tennis Courts

The City of Richmond Hill also provides pickleball opportunities on several lined tennis courts throughout the city.

These are not dedicated pickleball courts. They are tennis courts with pickleball lines added and therefore differ from standard pickleball facilities.

Players should be aware that:

  • Tennis nets are higher than regulation pickleball nets.

  • Court layouts differ from dedicated pickleball courts.

  • Some advanced shots, such as Ernes and Around-the-Post (ATP) shots, may not be practical because of the tennis net posts and court configuration.

These courts remain a valuable public recreational option but do not provide the same playing experience as dedicated pickleball courts.

  • Town Park - two dual purpose courts lined for tennis and pickleball - Now open!
  • Grovewood Park - one dual purpose court lined for tennis and pickleball - Now open!
  • Morgan Boyle Park - one dual purpose court lined for tennis and pickleball - Now open!
  • Oak Ridges Lions Club Park – one dual purpose court lined for tennis and pickleball - Now open!
  • Russell Farm Park – two dual purpose courts lined for tennis and pickleball - Now open!

A Note About Lined Tennis Courts

Lined tennis courts provide a convenient way to introduce family and friends to pickleball and enjoy a casual game. However, they do not offer the same playing experience as dedicated pickleball courts.

Because tennis nets are higher than regulation pickleball nets and the court layout is different, many standard pickleball shots—such as Ernes and Around-the-Post (ATP) shots—are not possible. In addition, many lined tennis courts have surface slopes or drainage grades that can affect ball bounce and player movement.

For the best pickleball experience, dedicated pickleball courts are recommended whenever available.
